4. Exchange and Cooperation:
The school is active in both domestic and international academic
exchanges and collaborations. A number of prominent scholars
have been invited as honorary professors or guest professors
in the school. Among them are the great geometer and Wolf
prize winner Professor Shiing-Shen Chern and the Fields Medalist
Professor Shing-Tung Yau.
Each year, dozens of the school's teachers are sent or invited
to the United States, Europe, Hong Kong and other regions
for academic exchanges and collaborations. The school held
successfully the international symposium on Computational
Mathematics in 1997 and 2002 and hosted an international conference
on Wavelet Analysis and Application in 1999.The school's Institute
of Mathematics holds one colloquium per week on average and
invites scholars from outside or the school to talk at the
colloquium. Also, a number of seminars on the advances in
mathematics are held each week.
